The HTC Dream phone is going to be just as revolutionary if not more than the iPhone when it arrives later this year! The Dream phone isn’t just a dream but a reality brought to life by HTC, sporting the Android OS. So far we know that it will rock with a large touch-screen, a QWERTY keyboard underneath the display, a handful of basic keys placed somewhere on the face of the Dream, and possibly a 300MHz processor. Most of the HTC Dream’s features are still in a semi-quasi dream state, but there are a few more worth mentioning below.
Other than those features there was talk of a trackball and a Qualcomm chipset that we’ve seen in several examples running Quake at around 30 frames per second. Furthermore, the Dream phone will most definitely have 3G, no word whether it will be HSDPA/HSUPA or EV-DO, but if I had to bet the farm, I’d say HSDPA/HSUPA since it’s supported almost everywhere that has 3G and not to mention GSM is deployed worldwide. If the HTC Dream contains 3G, it’s quite possible they’ll support legacy data connections as well such as GPRS/EDGE for those that aren’t covered by 3G just yet. The Dream phone is shaping up to be the status phone of the 2008 when arrives
In summary, you’ll have a phone of “your dream” that has a large touch screen similar to several other designs from HTC, but unlike anything else in the world, the Dream phone is the first to run Android OS. You can type using the QWERTY keyboard or do everything on just the Dream’s display, the keyboard is just an added bonus to make emails, notes, and other such tasks easier. HTC dubbed this phone the Dream, and if I had to guess they’ve taken every step to make your dream phone.
